Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer Profession

A mechanical engineer designs, builds and tests mechanical devices, which include tools, engines, and machines.  Mechanical devices have components that move.  A very important problem about mechanical devices that Mechanical Engineers solve is the power generation, so they not only design equipment that use power, but the devices that produce this power.  Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest engineering disciplines; it is so broad that mechanical engineers are the ones that make the tools that other engineers use.

Some examples of things created by mechanical engineers are:

  • An engine
  • A car
  • A turbine for an airplane
  • A robot
  • Air conditioning equipment

The history of mechanical engineering dates back to ancient and medieval societies, in many places in the world. The first recollection of mechanical engineers is from ancient Greece, and medieval Chinese history.  In conclusion, mechanical engineering is a very broad and ancient profession that deals with very interesting sometimes futuristic mechanical devices.
